Research

I am passionate about ecology because we are able to take theoretical principles and apply them to solve real world problems. The goal of my PhD work is to understand how we can promote native plant ecosystem services while creating fire resistant plant communities on fuel breaks. Working alongside the US Forest Service, we are investigating the ecological impacts of fire suppression management, the factors affecting plant flammability, and the drivers of plant community composition in fuel modified areas.

No prior experience is needed! I believe all students have the capacity to become self-motivated learners and my role is to motivate and provide them with the tools necessary to discover and ignite their personal passions and curiosities.
